Pure Eau looks at the dangers of arsenic in water

We all know the obvious dangers of Arsenic being a poison, but are we really aware of how much is found in contaminated water and the implications of drinking it?

A study was carried out in 2001 by a research group from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine, Dhaka, Bangladesh, where for obvious reasons drinking contaminated water is a norm. Pure Eau is concerned at the sheer volume of contaminated drinking water in which drinking clean water should be a basic human right. We are fortunate in the UK to have access to clean water, but at Pure Eau we like to go one better. Our water has been through a process called “reverse osmosis” which removes all contaminants including toxins, chlorine and fluoride to ensure that when you drink our water through our water filters or water coolers you drink nothing but ‘pure’ water.

The researchers studied a group of women of reproductive age (15-49 years) who were chronically exposed to arsenic through drinking water to identify the pregnancy outcomes in terms of live birth, stillbirth, spontaneous abortion, and preterm birth. They compared pregnancy outcomes of exposed respondents with pregnancy outcomes of women of reproductive age (15-49 years) who were not exposed to arsenic-contaminated water. In a cross-sectional study, they matched the women in both exposed and non-exposed groups for age, socioeconomic status, education, and age at marriage. The total sample size was 192, with 96 women in each group (i.e., exposed and non-exposed). Of the respondents in the exposed group, 98% had been drinking water containing [Greater and equal to] 0.10 mg/L arsenic and 43.8% had been drinking arsenic-contaminated water for 5-10 years. Skin manifestation due to chronic arsenic exposure was present in 22.9% of the respondents. Adverse pregnancy outcomes in terms of spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, and preterm birth rates were significantly higher in the exposed group than those in the non-exposed group (p = 0.008, p = 0.046, and p = 0.018, respectively). It is staggering to think in the age in which we live in, people are still exposed to such risks and through sheer thirst they are prepared to risk their health and that of their children. Pure Eau supports any project or research to highlight the dangers of contaminated water. Our water coolers and water filters ensure we remove all toxins before we allow you to drink as much pure water as you and your family can drink.

Pure Eau understands the importance of drinking plenty of pure water, especially when pregnant. Water can be the answer to alleviating many side effects of pregnancy, aid in preparing the body for these physiological changes, and just overall making mother and child healthier. Water is an important part of pregnancy. The fluid acts as the body’s transportation system, and carries nutrients through the blood to the baby. Pure Eau provides pure water which has been processed through reverse osmosis through our water coolers and water filters which hydrates your body and keeps both you and your baby in optimum health

Pure Eau applauds improved water in Somerset

A ?26m project aimed at improving the quality of sea water at Weston-Super-Mare is beginning in May 2011.

Brean Down lies between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-sea and is considered to be one of the most dramatic landmarks on the Somerset coastline according to the Somerset Tourist Board http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/topics/company/europeanunion

The coastal headland extends 1.5 miles into the Bristol Channel, Wessex water aim to have the work completed by December 2013, in time for the new revised Bathing Water directive which is being implemented in 2015 aimed at ensuring sewage returned to the sea is clean enough to meet legislation. Currently, the levels at Weston and nearby Uphill are considered to be acceptable but if the same water samples taken today were to be used in 2015, the quality of the water would be classed as ‘poor’. Pure Eau understands all about the importance of water quality. Our water coolers and water filters use a process called ‘Reverse osmosis’ which ensures you only drink clean, pure water which is free from contaminants.

The work carried out will include increasing the secondary treatment and ultraviolet disinfection capacity of the plant, according to the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-13005881 It will also include increasing storm water capacity which should reduce sewage being discharged into rivers and the sea during heavy rainfall. Wessex water stated that the main aim is to ensure they have done everything possible to improve water quality to make sure local beaches remain designated bathing waters to ensure tourists visit the North Somerset area which supports the local economy substantially. If our seas and rivers are polluted then naturally we become sick. Pure Eau applauds Wessex Water in implementing changes and no doubt many other water companies will have to quickly follow suit to meet the requirements and new legislation in 2015. Pure Eau provides nothing but pure water and our water coolers and water filters ensure you drink as much water as you need.

Water quality is essential for total well being. Pure Eau recommends you drink at least 8 glasses of pure water every day to achieve maximum health benefits. Our water coolers and water filters allow you drink pure water all summer long.
