Did you know that a third of all people that have diabetes are not aware that they have diabetes? Symptoms may seem tolerable, and most people just move on and don't pay attention to the bodies warning signals. Know you have diabetes or if you are pre diabetic, is important because you can start improving your life style and making the necessary changes to lessen the effects of diabetes in the future.
Sometimes people experience type 2 diabetes symptoms but don't get a check up, since these systems can just be overlooked. Take a look at some of the symptoms that are associated with type 2 diabetes.
-Feeling thirsty.
-Having to urinate more than usual.
-Feeling more hungry than usual.
-Losing weight without trying to.
-Feeling very tired.
-Feeling cranky.
-Lots of infections and cuts and bruises that heal slowly.
-Blurred vision.
-Tingling or numbness in your hands or feet.
-Lots of skin, gum, or bladder infections.
-Vaginal yeast infections.
At first, your blood sugar level may rise so slowly that you may not know that anything is wrong. It is important to find out early if you have diabetes because treatment can prevent damage to the body from diabetes. Even though type 2 diabetes is commonly associated with being over weight that does not mean that just because you are not overweight you are safe from having type 2 diabetes. Also, type 2 diabetes usually arises in adult years, but children can also be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Sometimes Type 2 diabetes develops so slowly that you do not have symptoms until you already have some more serious problems from the disease. Many people are pre diabetic, when blood sugar levels are above normal but not high enough to have diabetes, for years before they know they’ve develop Type 2 diabetes.
If you suspect you are experiencing any of these symptoms, go see your doctor. As the saying goes, it's better to be safe than sorry. If you are diagnosed with diabetes, work with your doctor and follow your treatment plan. This usually consists of a healthy diet, regular exercise and checking your glucose levels more often. Working closely with your doctor can help you feel better and in more control of diabetes. With your treatment plan you can help delay or even prevent serious health complications by keeping your blood sugar under control.

I don’t believe that cookies and baked goods are the culprits for this terrible disease, back in the 50’s and 60’s our parents and grandparents baked cookies on a daily basis and we as children had eaten dozens of cookies almost on a daily basis, there were cookies and milk after school, cookies in your lunch bag, and a snack before bedtime of cookies, we had cookies of every shape and form that anyone can imagine.
During the Christmas and Easter Holidays I went to my grandparents home and usually upon arrival we were offered cookies and milk for the children and cookie and coffee for the adults, during this period in time people would swap cookie recipes like children would swap baseball cards. Now that we are in the 21st Century no one can say that because they are diabetic that they cannot eat cookies, with all the new sugar free and diabetic cookie recipes that you can find and all the diabetic cookies on the market no one should say I cannot eat cookies.

Both Type I, or juvenile, diabetes, and type II, or insulin-resistant, diabetes have a plethora of complications. Even though the two types of diabetes have different causes and somewhat different biological effects, both types can cause problems ranging from heart disease, serious eye problems such as diabetic retinopathy, and susceptibility to infections, circulation problems, gangrene, and strokes.
The most important way to avoid or minimize complications is to keep one’s blood sugar carefully regulated. For some type II diabetics this may be able to be accomplished with diet alone, while others may need a combination of diet and an oral medication. For type I diabetics, a carefully restricted diet must be augmented by regular insulin injections. In addition to merely monitoring blood sugar and tracking food, making sensible food choices can help considerably.
Beyond diet and medication, other things can be done to minimize problems. Caring immediately for any scratches, wounds, or other skin problems is important, as is protecting oneself from injury to the skin and to the extremities in the first place. For people susceptible to skin problems, specially created diabetic socks provide a supportive fit while helping keep the feet dry to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and fungus. Avoiding stress and getting enough sleep also helps the body cope with the disease.
Of course, proper medical care is also important. Like many serious chronic diseases, diabetes requires regular medical appointments with an endocrinologist. It’s also important to communicate with the doctor about acute illnesses that crop up, including colds, the flu, and other common infectious diseases. A simple cold can make a non-diabetic individual miserable for a week; a diabetic, on the other hand, can have his or her blood sugar levels thrown off wildly, and need serious adjustment.
The bottom line for diabetics: eat right, monitor your blood sugar and medication levels carefully, care for all skin problems, get enough sleep, and most importantly, don’t go it alone. Find a good doctor, follow his or her recommendations, and then follow up frequently. Diabetes is a serious illness with potentially serious complications, but being on top of it can mean avoiding many, if not all, of the problems that can crop up.

Pectin is a natural therapeutic ingredient found in the inner portion of the rind and the pulp. Grapefruit

According to Dr. Riley, any person suffering from high blood sugar should take grapefruit three times a day. Simultaneously, consumption of starches, sweets and fats should be reduced and diet made rich in fruits, vegetables and juices. Two weeks of this grapefruit rich diet will bring down sugar level in individuals not taking insulin. In those who take insulin regularly, it takes longer.
Jambul Fruit
The jambul fruit also known as rose apple is grown all over India. It too possesses anti-diabetic properties.
In the indigenous system of medicine this fruits is regarded as specific remedy against diabetes because of its effect on the pancreas. The fruit, the seeds and fruits juice are beneficial in treatment of this disease. The jamboline’ contained in the seeds in believed to check the pathological conversion of starch into sugar in case of increase production of glucose. The seeds are dried and powdered. This powder mixed with water, taken three or four times daily reduces sugar in the urine and allays thirst.
In Ayurveda, the inner bark of the jambul tree is considered valuable in the treatment of diabetes. The bark is dried and burnt, to produce a white colored ash. This ash is pestle in the mortar, strained and bottled. The diabetes patient should be given. The diabetes patients should be given about two grams of this ash in the morning on an empty stomach and two grams each in the afternoon and in the evening and hour after meals.
The seeds of the jambul fruits are considered beneficial in the treatment of excessive urination. The powder of these seeds in doses of one gram each, in the morning and evening is effective in controlling this condition.

Artichoke is beneficial in the treatment of diabetes because of its high insulin content. A fully ripe artichoke is said to contain more than two percent of insulin. Ripe artichokes are generally available only during autumn or fall. The insulin is converted into sugar in winter. Artichokes are most effective when eaten raw in salads. It cooking is required; they should be boiled, unpeeled, in a small quantity of water for about 10 minutes. Artichokes can be effectively combined with other vegetables.
