One very powerful way of reaching the still, small voice of our soul is through the practice of meditation. Before you run off, meditation simply means familiarizing ourselves with our mind, thoughts, emotions, feelings, and body. Meditation doesn't have to involve any detailed, complex practice. It can be as simple as learning to stop, breathe, and center within yourself for a moment or two. Meditative practice is a technique for connecting with our inner spirit. It allows serenity, stress reduction, relaxation, and healing to occur. In addition, a moment of meditative time-out provides the opportunity to pull out of problems and imagine a better outcome.
Recall how you typically start off each morning, or how you end each day. Now imagine how your life would benefit if you allowed yourself a few moments of quiet. Wouldn't it be divine to allow breathing space to center, allow inner peace an opportunity to expand, and allow useful insights to rise? Many people turn to addictions (emotional or binge eating, anorexia, bulimia, extreme busyness, drugs, alcohol, etc.) because they do not know how to achieve an internal state of calmness. While meditation alone isn't the magical solution to all of life's issues, it can be a powerful tool to reduce stress and hyperactivity, and separate ourselves from obsessive mental chatter.
Are You Your Thoughts?
Meditation helps us learn that thoughts are just thoughts. They easily come and then they go. We begin to understand that we can let them drift away without generating any drama around them. Teachers of mediation often instruct that we are like the sky, always present, and our thoughts are the clouds which simply float on past. The clouds may change, but the sky itself is constant, unwavering, and steadfast. No matter what thoughts, feelings or emotions come, there is always a peaceful calm that is present within us. Meditation is one way of changing our relationship with the mind, and allowing another relationship to form with our inner spirit.
When we first begin to meditate, our minds resist. We are used to a constant chatter in our minds. Our minds jump from thought to thought like a crazed leapfrog. As we continue to practice, we will notice that meditation is a simple effort that becomes easier the more it is practiced. The main effort is in creating a new habit to set aside a few minutes to sit and breathe.
Meditation Made Simple!
Many of us quickly dismiss the entire concept of meditation. We conjure up images of strange people sitting in cross-legged positions repeating "ohm" over and over again. Luckily, there are many options, and there are no strict rules or programs we must follow. Meditation is simply developing a habit of taking action to go beyond the chaos and busyness, and turning inward to allow greater inner resourcefulness. Listed below are some easy suggestions to help quiet the mind -- and they don't require much time or learning ability. Try one or more of these ideas if you either don't know how to begin, or if you swear that you're just so busy that couldn't possibly create a moment of silence for yourself. Enjoy!
1. Sitting in Silence
An easy meditation practice is to simply sit in silence every day for about 1 to 20 minutes. Sit quietly, take a deep breath, and simply ask, "What is it I need to know?" Continue intentional deep breathing and listen. Listen to the silence. Listen to your hair, your skin, your feet, or your nose. Notice your mind playing with the question, attempting to solve the problem. Allow your mind to be your mind; there is no need to control your thoughts. Just sit, breathe, and listen. Listen even if no answer immediately rises. Breathe and listen.
2. Sitting with a Problem
Try this experiment. When something is deeply troubling you, take a pause from the despair and worry, and just sit with it. Allow the problem to exist without picking at it, or attempting to fix or solve it. Feel the problem and notice where it sits in your body. If possible, suspend judgement and see if you can observe it without an opinion. Might it be possible to drop down from the thoughts circling with frenzy within your head, and just say hello to the problem? Drop down into your body and see what lies there. Simply breathe into the problem. Let the wisdom of your body find its own voice
3. Deep Breathing
Lie on your back. Breathe evenly and gently, focusing your attention on the movement of your stomach. As you begin to breathe in, allow your stomach to rise in order to bring air into the lower half of your lungs. As the upper halves of your lungs begin to fill with air, your chest begins to rise and your stomach begins to lower. Don't tire yourself. Continue for 10 breaths. The exhalation will be longer than the inhalation.
4. One Minute Mediation
Each morning, before leaving your house, find a minute to sit down. You don't need a special darkened incensed room. Just sit somewhere comfortable. Keeping your back straight, slowly take in one full breath. Imagine yourself filling up with energy that flows throughout your whole body. At the end of your inhale, wait to exhale for about three seconds. Then exhale, releasing your breath slowly, imagining that you are releasing from your mind and body all that is stressful or heavy. When you believe the exhale is complete, push a little more air out of your lungs. Repeat for about one minute. Lastly, while you are resuming your normal breathing, remain still for about five more seconds.
5. Visual Meditation
An easy way to create a feeling of physical relaxation is select a calming picture or photograph. Sit back and relax. Breathe gently, slowly and calmly. Look at the image and notice your physical body. Are the feelings of calmness, peace, or relaxation beginning to awaken? If so, gently breathe into these feelings and allow them to expand and take you into a more and more relaxed state.
6. Basic Meditation
People who teach meditation suggest learning the ability to focus on something specific:
a) Some people focus on a phrase -- for example, "I am peaceful."
b) Some people focus on an object such as a religious symbol or a candle.
c) Some people focus on breathing.
* Find a quiet place. In the beginning, it is easier to meditate in a relatively quiet spot. This will help you "turn off" internal stimuli as well as external distraction.
* Sit so that your spine, neck and the back of your head are in a straight line. This allows breathing to occur without restriction. Sitting in a chair with feet on the floor is a good position.
* There’s no mysterious magic about focusing on something. The mind loves to be involved with activity, and this simply gives your mind something to do while you take a little time to be quiet.
* Breathe naturally, deeply, and intentionally.
* Allow thoughts and feelings to come and go with detachment. Don't try to control them in any way. Just note them, and when you realize that you are no longer focusing on your object, phrase, or breath, gently return to focus. You may experience a deep state of relaxation but it is OK if you don't.
* Continue this for about 5-20 minutes.
* When done, take a couple of minutes to slowly return to normal awareness. Be gentle with yourself when opening your eyes or coming to stand after a meditation. Allow your body and mind to readjust.

The movie of King Kong is an elaborate allegory of spiritual evolution so we can understand the mythical quality of this story which also underlies the Lord of the Rings, the Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Cupid and Psyche and Sleeping Beauty.
We understand from King Kong what ancient symbols have been telling us of the hundred percent split nature of humanity and the necessity for purification, integration and going higher through meditation.
Ancient meditation knowledge of Splitness, the universal split nature of humanity through DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) shown and proved by the 10,000 year old images of the split animal-human or ego-soul of the Centaur, Sphinx, Minotaur and Phoenix.
Or Anne Darrow-King Kong or Gollum-Frodo or Cupid-Psyche or Beauty-Beast or Sleeping Beauty-Prince or Cervantes Sancho Panza-Don Quixote and Frodo-Sam.
The Ancient Mythical quality is first announced in the 1933 version and the 2005 versions of King Kong by the Sufi Saying...
And the Prophet said, 'And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty. And it stayed its hand from killing. And from that day, it was as one dead.'
King Kong is the ego, mirrored by Carl Denham the Director. Anne Darrow the beautiful, the beloved, is the Soul and her beau, Jack Driscoll, is God - someone she looks up to.
Symbolisms- Carl Denham-Ego, Anne Darrow-Soul, Jack Driscoll-God
Peter Jackson's King Kong has many references to "Heart of Darkness", such as a scene on the ship where Jimmy holds a copy of the book by Conrad, also the text behind Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now, and says "It’s not an adventure story, is it?"
KING KONG IS NOT JUST AN ADVENTURE STORY.
This sentiment is echoed by Hayes in a voiceover as he quotes Conrad, "The earth seemed unearthly… We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there—there you could look at a thing monstrous and free."
As King Kong itself is a story of the egoistic cruelties of men and of King Kong himself, the film suggests that Conrad meant to explore human cruelty of the cruel ego towards others as much as he meant to explore the Belgian Congo—and thus also the film is more than an adventure story but also explores the human ego's will and cruelty to exploit others.*
Carl Denham, the Big Kahuna Ego of the New York Jungle where he is at the top of a society filled with misery, poverty and hunger. He beats off the attack of his three tyrannosaurus Producers and escapes to Skull Island in search of an edge.
There King Kong falls in love with Anne Darrow and Anne Darrow, his soul, understands the necessity of being protected by the ego as King Kong protects her from the three tyrannosaurus rex's-just as the Carl Denham-Mr Ego, had protected her in New York from the Burlesque, hunger, and the three producer tyrannosaurus rexes wanting to stop the picture she was going to star in.
Back in New York, King Kong makes the Carl Denham Ego number one, feted and admired by the Producers who originally had wanted to stop his picture and career.
Jack Driscoll says in an accusation made of Denham after he has captured Kong and put him on display like a circus freak—he so often "destroys the things he loves." Which often happens with many poor films, "Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!!" -
Shakespeare, "Which everyone can see for twenty-five cents." – Carl Denham.
But which also echoes the love of Anne Darrow for that which protects her. Yet she must kill in order to ascend higher.
Jack Driscoll was quoting Oscar Wilde's "Ballad of Reading Jail"...
"Yet each man kills the thing he loves,
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword! "
King Kong escapes with his Anne Darrow soul up the Empire state building which symbolizes the Rainbow Bridge, the pathway to heaven.
The Hindu's have a name for this tower, "The Antahkarana" which is the psychic construction which ties all the chakras together as well as that which connects us above the head with the soul chakra and then with God.
In deep love. With the energy of deep love which we the audience feel. Impregnated into the Movie, the energy of Love flows, and as Anne and King Kong lingeringly look at each other as he dies and falls into the corruption of New York city below.
As Anne rises to her feet, at the top of the highest skyscraper, she turns to find her lover, Jack Driscoll, who symbolises God, and who has come to take her higher. She no longer needs to descend into the mire. She can stay in heaven and live happily ever after.
This is the same story as Jackson's Lord of the Rings. Half of Gollum's split personality says, "We would not have survived if it had not been for me". The other half says, "Now we have Master, (Frodo, the Master, represents the Soul) we do not need you any more, Go away and never come back!" Yet we have to wait for the end of the picture for Gollum to fall, taking with him the evil Ring, down into the crack of Doom, leaving the Frodo Soul much purified, ready to take the next step higher as he sails off with Gandalf (God) towards the Undying Lands (Heaven).
Down in the New York mire or Hell, Carl Denham looks at his ruin in the ruinous death of King Kong.
Police Officer Lieutenant: Well, Denham, the airplanes got him. Denham: Oh, no. It wasn't the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast.
And so we understand the mythical quality of the story which underlies the Lord of the Rings, the Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Cupid and Psyche and Sleeping Beauty.
We understand that ancient symbols have been telling us of the split nature of humanity and the necessity for purification and integration. Of going higher with the 10,000 year old images of the split animal-human or ego-soul of the Centaur, Sphinx, Minotaur and Phoenix. Or Anne Darrow-King Kong or Gollum-Frodo or Beauty-Beast or Cupid – Psyche or Sleeping Beauty-Prince.
But let us not miss the point; the meaning and significance of this history. The ancient stories and myths underlying King Kong, The Lord of the Rings, Apocalypse Now, Catch 22 and so many others point to a trauma disappointment formed splitness in the personalities of all humanity as being the cause of all evil on this planet for thousands of years.
They also teach of the Integrating techniques of Meditation, Energy Enhancement and the underlying techniques of the Kundalini Kriyas, The Five Element Circulations of the Qi or Chi or Kundalini Energy, the Alchemical Meditational Formulas or Guided Meditations of Hermes Trismegistus as a means of overcoming this trauma formed splitness which is the cause of Universal DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).
Meditation and the higher techniques of Meditation are the cure of that splitness.

I have met many people who do not want to meditate; yet they seek peace of mind. They just do not want to concentrate here or focus there. Their main point of contention is that they just do not have the power of concentration. I simply ask them, if they lacked power of concentration, how come they still retained their jobs? How could they possibly work for so many hours at a stretch?
Forget Concentration
People are surprised when I tell them that meditation needs NO concentration. When you try to concentrate, you force your mind to do something it does not want to do. In fact, you are creating more tension than providing release! What happens when someone imposes his will on you? It creates tension, does it not? The same applies to the mind. So, how can you expect to find peace coercing your mind to focus or concentrate? Forget this concentration business!
Awareness is the Answer
The simplest form of meditation is being AWARE of what you are doing. Here is a simple technique for those who DO NOT want to meditate.
Sit in your chair – slouch by all means, if that is what you want to do. Gently close your eyes. Just be aware of your breath. You will notice how shallow it is. The shallower your breath, the more tense you become. You will have to get out of your slouched position somewhat. Now, notice the way you breathe. It will not be as shallow as it was before. If you sit with your spine erect, it will facilitate deeper breathing.
So, gently close your eyes again, breathe softly and deeply while being aware of your breath. Be aware of the beautiful deep rhythm your breath settles down to. As your breath gets progressively slower and deeper, your consciousness may wander into another dimension of existence, where peace prevails. You may have been there for a second or a fraction thereof; but, when you come back, you will find yourself in an absolutely relaxed state.

Qigong is an art of using the very energies of life to strengthen, heal and revitalize. With thousands of variations, qigong has its beginnings in antiquity. The oldest documentation of actual qigong exercises is from the Mawangdui tombs (168BC), discovered in China in 1976. Other references that date back to the second century BC, suggest that the roots of qigong are very ancient indeed. We don’t know the original purpose of qigong exercises, but throughout history they seem to have been used in three broad categories; health & healing, martial arts and spirituality.
Since the earliest forms of qigong were from a time when people still believed that evil spirits caused illnesses, it is suspected that it was actually developed as a sort of spiritual healing or divination practice. By the time of the Han dynasty (206 BC to 500AD), qigong was largely practiced by Buddhist and Daoist religious groups.
Soon martial artists discovered that qigong exercises could increase their strength and fighting abilities, sometimes to nearly superhuman extremes. Hundreds of qigong exercises were developed for enhancing the strength and the senses of these practitioners and many people, especially martial artists, have suggested that this is the original purpose of the practice. Qigong may be responsible in part for raising martial arts from a pugilistic system to an art of health cultivation.
Today, qigong is practiced by people all over the world. There have been hundreds of scientific studies showing marked physiological effects on the human body from this practice. Qigong seems to have many positive effects on people, including regulating blood pressure, regulating the immune system, lowering stress levels and alleviating depression.
There are two broad categories of qigong practice. The first comprises qigong exercises, which sometimes resemble tai chi exercises, and can be done by anyone wishing to calm their mind and increase their health and vitality. The second, possibly more controversial category is qigong healing. This type of energy healing is done by experienced practitioners who have developed subtle senses of the body’s energy systems and how to balance them.
While qigong healing may be somewhat inaccessible to the layperson, the benefits of a simple personal qigong practice can be realized fairly easily. With proper guidance, everyone can experience relaxation and feel invigorated within just a few minutes of practice.
Good Luck and Good Health.

Weight loss is a major concern for many, many people. Lots of theories about the best way to tackle it have been put forward over the centuries, but basically it is a case of finding the one that works for you. Hypnosis is one such action that a higher percentage of people are now turning to. Whilst hypnosis for weight loss and weight management can be a great help, it should always be natural and part of a well defined plan of who you are and who you want to be. It can help to develop a new self-image, with a happier and healthier outlook. The power of suggestion can take complete and thorough effect upon the deepest part of a subconscious mind. Hypnosis for weight loss often concentrates upon convincing the recipient that they don’t actually need to eat unless they are hungry and if so, the food they’ll eat will be a healthy option. Also, the hypnotist could etch the thought into the head that there is no need to continue eating until the stomach feels full, only until it is satisfied. The whole metabolism is completely adjusted to a perfect rate to enable the desired weight to be attained. Hypnosis doesn't require any magic or special powers, indeed most people don't know it, but hypnosis is actually a natural state that everyone has experienced. The average person can learn hypnosis in a matter of hours. Once you know what to say, you'll be able to hypnotise almost anyone, with no tricks required. Hypnotism in essence taps the power of your subconscious mind, the part of you that runs your body, your memory and your habits. Today we call it hypnosis, as hypno is the Greek word for sleep, but it is not sleep in the normal sense, it is just a convenient expression. Europe was exposed to the power of hypnosis by Franz Anton Mesmer, who dressed himself up in a flashy style used dimly lit rooms with mirrors and used magnetism as his medium. People sat around in tubs filled with iron filings and held iron bars. Mesmer made suggestions to them individually and those who believed in the suggestions were cured. People who entered into a trance state were “Mesmerized!”
