Meditation + Psychic Powers: Shaktipat, Kundalini Kriyas, Siddhis, Enlightenment, and Ramana Maharsh

From time immemorial it has been known that some people, Yogis, Gurus, Shamen, Priests, Saints, Paramahamsas, Buddhas, Christs, including Ramana Maharshi have evolved to a state of high energy.

These pure and good people, wanting benefit and happiness for all, without a trace of selfishness and competition have been known to have psychic powers.

Their search for energy and goodness has precipitated within them the next stage of human evolution.

For thousands of years the enlightenend have been Good Doctors, Good Priests, founders of religion, Philosophic Geniuses, Advisors of Kings, Musical Geniuses, Poets, Makers of the Law.

Don’t think of all your problems or challenges

For thousands of years these people, wielding amazing Siddhis or Psychic powers, have been recorded as healing of the sick, casting out mental sickness, coming in dreams, communicating through telepathy, the radiation of specialised energies, leaving the body, entering into the body of another, astral travel, telling the future, acting at a distance, raising Kundalini, Shaktipat, the ability to pass healing into amulets, temples, places of peace, pilgrimage sites, creating miracles, birds and beasts come to them in peace.

For example, Ramana Maharshi is noted as being the saint who died in 1950 who all the people in India agree was enlightened. Ramana seemed to have a photographic memory. He was asked questions about enlightenment from sacred books. He was able to recognize and answer those questions from his own experience. Through people bringing them to him he was able to remember all the sacred books of India.

1. From his ashram in South India he traveled astrally to Punjaji in Delhi and invited him to his ashram. When Punjaji saw him he suspected a trick and prepared to leave. It was only when he heard the witness to the fact from many people that Ramana had never gone to Delhi in the flesh that he agreed to stay. Punjaji became enlightened many years later and taught his own students.

2. About a year after his first meeting with Sri Bhagavan, Ganapathi Muni experienced a remarkable outflow of his Grace. While he was sitting in meditation in the temple of Ganapati at Tiruvottiyur he felt distracted and longed intensely for the presence and guidance of the Bhagavan. At that moment Sri Ramana entered the temple.

Ganapathi prostrated himself before him and, as he was about to rise, he felt the Maharshi's hand upon his head and a terrifically vital force coursing through his body from the touch; so that he also received Grace by touch from the Master. Speaking about this incident in later years, not Ganapathi Muni, but the Enlightened sage HIMSELF Sri Ramana Maharshi said:

"One day, some years ago, I was lying down and awake when I distinctly felt my body rise higher and higher. I could see the physical objects below growing smaller and smaller until they disappeared and all around me was a limitless expanse of dazzling light. After some time I felt the body slowly descend and the physical objects below began to appear.

I was so fully aware of this incident that I finally concluded that it must be by such means that Sages using the powers of Siddhis travel over vast distances in a short time and Appear and Disappear in such a mysterious manner. While the body thus descended to the ground it occurred to me that I was at Tiruvottiyur though I had never seen the place before.

I found myself on a highroad and walked along it. At some distance from the roadside was a temple of Ganapati and I entered it and gave Uppadesa, Shaktipat to Ganapathi. I suppose that this is the experience of all the ancient saints and Rishis from time immemorial"

3. In 1938 a woman by the name of Mercedes De Acosta, was driven by an inner need to visit Sri Ramana. After she had been sitting in the meditation hall for several hours a fellow American, Guy Hague, who many people have said was the real life role model for the Larry Darrell character in William Somerset Maugham's The Razor's Edge, suggested she go and sit closer to the Maharshi.

He said, "You can never tell when Bhagavan will come out of Samadhi. When he does, I am sure he will be pleased to see you, and it will be beneficial for you, at this moment, to be sitting near him."

"I moved near Bhagavan, sitting at his feet and facing him. Not long after this Bhagavan opened his eyes. He moved his head and looked directly down at me, his eyes looking into mine. It would be impossible to describe this moment and I am not going to attempt it. I can only say that at this second I felt my inner being raised to a new level - as if, suddenly, my state of consciousness was lifted to a much higher degree. Perhaps in this split second I was no longer my human self but the Soul."

These and similar eye contact sequences are reported similarly by many others.

4. Professor G.V.Subbaramayya has recounted how he prayed to the sage Sri Ramana for the cure of his two-year-old daughter and how she was cured by his Grace. Later he met Sri Ramana Maharshi and enquired of him, " did you not think that you must do something to save the child?" Straight came his reply :

"Even the thought of saving the child is a desire, and one who has any desire is not enlightened. In fact any such thought is unnecessary. The moment the enlightened persons attention is drawn in a certain direction there starts the automatic divine activity which itself leads to the highest good."

Note the lack of ego in the words above. See the words selfish desire and good. These elements seem to a part of the way that the enlightened see the world. Even Sivananda of Rishikesh said, "Be Good, Do Good." It is the gap between these two where we are judged and where our karma is created.

The shaktipat, the radiation of psychic energies by the enlightened can awaken these abilities in all who come to them. This has been known and recorded in the Sacred literature for thousands of years.

Indeed, some sacred literature states that only by access to the energies of the Masters, can enlightenment be passed on.

The greater your insensitivity, the more somnolent you are, the greater your need for a guru. Understand that. If you are fast asleep, how can you awaken yourself? Someone else will have to shake you. Even then the chances are that you will roll over and fall back asleep again." - Osho

The search for this next step in evolution comes from the enhancement, the increase, of energy.

They say that Masters represents infinite power through a complete loss of the selfish ego - When the robe was touched no credit was claimed by the wearer, It was your faith which healed you! said the Master - and so the truism, It takes two to Tango, - the student must be purified and prepared by evolution and spiritual practice to accept the Force, the Energy transmitted by the Master.

Thus we learn and practice Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Samadhi, Samyama, the Kundalini Kriyas, Chinese Alchemical Taoism and the Micro and Macrocosmic Orbits, VITRIOL and The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus, The Grounding of Negative Energies, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Raja Yoga and the Eighteen Classical Yogas of the Bhagavad Gita.

And Masters have existed in every time period.

They exist Now!!

The greatest asset you have as a business person is your mindset while your most expensive commodity is time. Seven minutes meditation gives you the best of both worlds.

7 Minutes Meditation for Busy Folks

With a little practice in a little time, you come up with problem-solving ideas with amazing ease. Your friends will think that you're a genius. And you will really feel good about yourself and your accomplishments. This is because meditation puts you in the alpha state of mind that enhance creativity, blasts tension, and indecision. You know what to do on every occasion because you’ve learned to think on autopilot.

What is meditation? Meditation is a process of mental exercise that primes the brain and centers the heart to cultivate productive ideas. This encourages whole brain thinking that put you in the zone of peak performance. You must be in the know to be in the flow. Therefore knowledge of how the brain works is crucial.

How does it work? It works when you work it into your consciousness. There are different segments of the brain which tend to work independently of one another. Each part may even antagonise another. The four cardinal parts of the brain are the left (intellectual) brain, the right (intuitive brain), the mid-brain (emotions) and the hind-brain (reticular activating system). When all the parts of the brain work together, you are focused and obstacles are eliminated. If not, disarray, failure, and tension are the norm for 95% of the population. Meditation fixes these problems by helping you develop complex and more efficient neuronal connections that encourages whole brain thinking—the way most geniuses and top achievers think. Joshua 1:8 says that with meditation, you shall be able to deal wisely with the affairs of this life. That sounds like genius to me!

Seven minute per session meditation shortens the process. Mental energy loss due to scattered thinking is minimized because your mind is forced to focus on the results instead of rehearsing the problems.

This is a powerful too for personal direction, goal-orientation and personal power. You’ll be calm in the midst of turmoil. All this is achieved by concurrent use of seven components of meditation.

1. Personalization: You must use personal pronouns in your affirmation when you repeat or recite your mantra. Don’t use meaningless word from a guru or what you copied somewhere. Come up with your own tailor-made phrases based on specifics that you’re programming for yourself. When you personalize words, you own them and emotions are involved which create attachments. This is how you call up the help of the energy currency of your human spirit. This helps achieve your goal sooner than later.

2. Localization: Don’t think of all your problems or challenges at the same time. Narrow your meditation session to one problem at a time. This is how you channel your energy to burn the problem just like a concentrated sun ray sets a piece of green paper ablaze. Yes, concentration is the heart of contemplation as you become a power house of creative ideas.

3. Memorization: To save time, you must keep the solution to our problem or goal you’re programming for your self at the back burner of your mind. For recall in subsequent session, you must repeat your mantra to yourself for it to stick in your deeper mind. Some people write it down and look at it. Writing down you 'focus phrase' alone increases retention by three hundred-fold while highlighting with yellow and sky blue increases retention by three-fold. Highlighting with red calls for urgent action. The more senses you engage, the better your retention and recall. The greatest programming is what you tell yourself. It is powerful in shaping your self-image. It is called auto-suggestion. Note that all improvements in your life starts with improvements in your self-image. We don't see the world the way it is; we see the world the way we are. Based on your self-image, you shape your world with your words.

4. Verbalization: This is called learning by mouth. Positive confession is the most powerful way of getting the word deep down in your human spirit where the will and gut to make things happen reside. Know that it is your words that shape your mind, and not the other way round. Repetition is the key. The discipline of repetitive verbalization of your goals is the mother of all achievements. Don’t be tempted to stop by looking at circumstances. The words you speak also create pictures.

5. Visualization: Image is everything! You must visualize to actualize. The fact is that the soul cannot think without pictures. Visualization rests on the premise that everything is created twice (in heart and mind) before it manifests in the physical world. A picture is truly more than a thousand words. It also takes descriptive words to create pictures. This art of making mental movies is like photography. Good photographers are always focusing only on the pictures they want to develop. This time, we prefer movies (motion pictures) to posters (stagnant) pictures. Get a picture of the replica or representation of your dream—what you want to be, do or have. Rehearse it again and again in your mind with gusto. Put emotion to it as if it has already been achieved. When the picture takes, the results show up sooner than later with consistent practice.

6. Actualization: This is the doing part. Doing is the most powerful part of programming. “What I hear, I may forget. What I see, I may not remember; but what I do is part of me,” says a Chinese Proverb. No amount of mental rehearsal or confession can get the job done. Your thinking creates your reality; your action brings it to you. No blueprint has ever carried out itself and no war strategy has ever fought a battle. People do! The whole essence of steps 1 to 5 is to bring you to 6. Meditation is a process. The seven minutes forces the brain to think in a time frame by giving it deadline. This triggers the reticular activating system to provoke the subconscious mind to come with a solution. Subconscious mind is the center of the law of attraction in the brain. The thrill is in the doing. “It is the law of nature that those who do has the power and those who don’t have not the power.” Said Ralph Waldo Emerson.

7. Manifestation: This is the result of implementing steps 1 to 6. This is the outward evidence of success that everybody sees. Most untrained folks don’t understand the law of process. They tend to attribute success to luck. LUCK is laboring under correct knowledge of all the steps.

How to Meditate: Putting the Pieces Together. Understanding the Seven P’S:

• Purpose: you must keep the reason why of your meditation before you.

• Prospects: Rehearse the benefits at the back of your mind. Your intention will keep your attention. Otherwise your mind will get bored and that will erode your confidence and believe in the system. Purpose and prospects are related.

• Place: You must establish a specific place for meditation. The free wheeling life style of anything goes will not cut it. Otherwise you lose focus. Some people use a corner of their room or office to do.

• Period. You must establish a specific time to stand and end. Some people prefer early in the morning immediately after waking up from sleep. Whatever you do, don’t meditate while driving, operating a machinery, after eating or when you’re tired. Don’t meditate on the bed or bedroom. The mind has learned to associate those with sleep. You’re time window is a maximum of seven minutes.

• Preliminaries: These are preambles to get you ready. Remove belts, ties, shoes, and jewelries.

• Position: The best position is lotus or the Buddha position. It helps strengthen your body frame, improves your posture and makes you a little uncomfortable so that you can’t fall back to sleep. Never lie down. It is associated with sleep. Alternative positions include sitting on a chair and relaxing all your muscle groups. This works best at office hours.

• Practice: This is where all the techniques come together. Here you close your eyes to avoid distraction and encourage focus, relax your muscles and recite your mantra from memory using personal pronouns. You also visualize your end-goal as if it has already happened bringing gusto to the whole exercise. You should be done in less than seven minutes.

A closing thought:

Meditation is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your business. If thinking is everything, then it is the most important thing. You can describe your life or design your future in the present by meditation. Every great person that has ever lived was a great thinker. Jeffrey Bezos used it to found Amazon.com; Pierre Omardiya did the same with eBay. Bill Gates takes a whole week off just to meditate. Bill calls it 'think week.' ‘Think and Grow Rich’ is all about the use of your mind power to create wealth.

So don’t wait for flashes of inspiration to hit you like a thunder bolt, prime your goldmine and you will always produce gold. Creative juice will flow effortlessly and automatically with practice and priming your brain. You become a living magnet that attracts money, health, happiness, influence, protection and relationship because you are aligned with the energy of the universe where every good thing originates. The laws of the universe are the laws of success. It is in our heart and mind that God teaches us the secret to unlock the vault of the universe. It’s all within you waiting to be harnessed. “That’s GREAT (God Rewards Every Active Thinker),” says my friend, Ed Gray. Meditation is what makes the great, great and separates them from the rest.

How to Feel Better Naturally: Simple Tips for Meditating Stress Away

Once considered an exotic and exclusively spiritual practice, expert doctors and scientists now credit meditation with alleviating a host of physical and mental ailments such as anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and chronic fatigue.

But what comes to mind when you think of meditation? Is it monks wearing enlightenment on their sleeves, drinking super caffeinated green tea, levitating at will, and disappearing into tree-lined monasteries for days, weeks, or years at a time? Is it gym yoga classes complete with $22.95/pair purple pastel blocks and trendy attractive people in the front row? The gazillion ads for guided meditation CDs that pop-up whenever you put "meditation" into a search engine?

Clearly, the word meditation conjures up some interesting images, but arguably the general idea behind mindfulness meditation is inherent in all forms of meditation. 99.9% of the time, our mental processes are dominated by a never-ending stream of angry, anxious, and reactive thoughts that rob us of our inherent ability to feel at peace and focused in any given moment.

By contrast, during a meditation practice, you encourage yourself to feel aligned with whatever is happening in the present moment, instead of getting caught up in habitual perceptions of what has happened in the past or may happen in the future. By meditating, you gently turn off the never-ending and very popular "what if THIS happens" channel in your mind and just exist in the here and now. As Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, renowned meditation teacher, psychologist, and facilitator of the Stress Reduction and Relaxation program at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center says in Full Catastrophe Living:

Simply put, mindfulness is moment-to-moment awareness. It is cultivated by purposefully paying attention to things we ordinarily never give a moment's thought to. It is a systematic approach to developing new kinds of control and wisdom in our lives, based on our inner capacities for relaxation, paying attention, awareness, and insight.

Kabat-Zinn, Jon. Full Catastrophe Living. Dell Publishing, New York, 1990, 2.

So if we accept the premise that feeling centered in the present moment can be beneficial to our physical and mental well being, how do we learn how to meditate?

While there are many ways of introducing yourself to meditation, three simple methods come to mind:

1) Taking a meditation or yoga class with a teacher and other students.

2) Using guided meditation tapes or CDs to create your own practice.

3) Cultivating focused awareness through short "spot" meditations, even if you can't commit to a full fledged meditation practice.

Taking a Class with Others

Your local gym or YMCA probably sponsors yoga classes which can function as a kind of meditation-in-motion practice, even if you don't have a full-fledged yoga school in your area. Typing "online meditation class" into a search engine also yields virtual classes encompassing many different time zones and meditation philosophies compatible with almost anyone's belief system or schedule.

Using Guided Meditation CDs

Using guided tapes and CDs can be a great starter program for anyone unsure about beginning a meditation practice on their own.

Meditation for Optimum Health: How to Use Mindfulness and Breathing to Heal Your Body and Refresh Your Mind, by Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Andrew Weil, is an excellent meditation starter program for anyone (especially those interested in scientific validation that meditation works).

Radical Self-Acceptance, by renowned meditation teacher, Buddhist lay priestess, and psychologist, Dr. Tara Brach, combines psychological awareness with Buddhist teachings about compassion in exploring how mindfulness meditation can alleviate the shame or "the trance of unworthiness," so common and destructive in modern life.

Belleruth Naparstek's guided imagery series frequently gets rave reviews from individuals using guided

meditation/visualization in working with specific issues such as post traumatic stress disorder, weight loss, or insomnia.

Cultivating a Smidgen of Meditative Awareness: Spot Meditations

Meditations designed to be done in 5 minutes or less may not bring instant enlightenment, but they can still provide a taste of feeling calm and focused in the present moment. Flip the Switch: 40 Anytime, Anywhere Meditations in 5 minutes or Less by Eric Harrison, is an excellent resource for anyone who can take a few deep mindful breaths while waiting for a red light to change or a meeting to start. Meditation from Thought to Action by Alexander and Annellen Simpkins, also contains many short exercises designed to focus the mind in a few minutes.

Conclusion

Most people who have tried meditation usually agree that simply having the intention to meditate has a profound effect on anyone's mental/physical health and personal development. So what not order a book or CD about meditation right now, and make an investment in your well being?

July Fifteenth; Tibetan Plateau

The year is circa 1650; the place is the isolated Tibetan Plateau, three miles above sea level, on the very pinnacle of the world. The great fifth Dalai Lama is still a young man; Tibet is a sanctuary of peace and harmony. It is July fifteenth and the walls of the great scholastic monastery Drepung rise above the land as if willed there within a landscape of barren rock.

An ageless monk stands gazing out over the deep, expansive valley which extends down and away in all directions. It is early morning and in the thin air the dark blue sky of the Himalayas is bright in contrast to the still shadowy lowlands below. The evening fog, cold and damp, lingers as flickering lights, the lantern radiance of a thousand pilgrims, twist in long and narrow rows making their ritual sojourn towards the monastery. The procession is not a new sight to the old monk. He, his brethren and their order have witnessed this spectacle from time before recorded history. It is the pageant of the sacred Himalayan Bowl which trails off into infinity.

The caravan carries within it’s fiery train offerings of flowers, grains, food, incense and devotion. Each pilgrim has come to hear the echoed song of a sacred Himalayan Singing Bowl. Tradition recounts that karmic obstructions are removed while meditating within it’s voice. Those that have already managed to mindfully pierce their veil of illusion will hear the Bowl’s resonance from great distances and from within life itself. It is the physical utterance of emptiness, the teachings of truth, the sound of enlightenment.

As the thousands gather in the monastery courtyard a group of monks carry from the thrown stronghold, known as ‘Kungar Awa’, the “Dragons Egg”. It is one of only three ancient sacred Bowls of grand dimensions that has survived the centuries. The path and surrounding area is illuminated by one hundred and eight thousand candles. The air is full of the sound of transformative mantras, the blending smells of temple incense and yak butter lamps. Each monk in turn participates in sacred dance; reenacting teaching stories in sanctified geometry. The large concentrated metal alloy Bowl slowly makes its’ way into position at the center of the assembly. Surrounded by symbols of devotion its’ presence radiates wisdom and compassion; means and method.

Hours pass and the initiating ceremonies are completed, all activities stop and the pilgrims wait for silence; the Bowl is struck. Like a stone thrown into a calm pool of water the Bowls’ harmonic resonance and overtones ignite the surface of existence. A shock wave passes through each devotee. As with the stone awakening the pools’ surface in ever expanding circles; the voice of the Bowl embraces and guides each being into synchronization with their intrinsic universal life force; their primordial nucleus.

Consciousness is altered, reality reshaped and each individual of the congregation is transported into an expanded state of meditative dimensions. Within this framework of tranquillity and balance the realization of mental, physical and spiritual healing is attained. The Bowls’ reverberations touch the Bodhi self within and escorts consciousness into a deeper understandings of Dharma.

Silence descends again and with breathless anticipation the Bowl is struck again; this time its’ edge is gently rubbed and new levels of overtones fill the space. Many experience a weightless sensation as spiraling, sympathetic sounds attune their left and right brain hemispheres. A still point of relaxation, creativity and balance fills the space. It is Voidness teaching, the song of AUM, the resonance of life, the ‘Bindu’, the universal chord, the ‘diamond self’..

Creation in all of its vast diversities is the reflection of the omnipresent being manifested within time and space through the medium of sound. Within this unmarred aura the illusion of duality ends and the true essence of reality, undivided and yet individually distinct, is revealed. The timeless mantra ‘Aum Mani Padma Aum’, (the Jewel in the Lotus), mirrors the undiminished, interdependent nature of life and is proclaimed within the voice of each Himalayan Bowl.

In our everyday lives of mortgage payments, taxes, traffic jams, near destruction and treasured moments it is easy to lose touch with our inherent wholeness. Perhaps at some deep level we all, in a shared moment of consciousness, have designed gurus, saints, buddhas and gods as vessels of learning; each a relic of discovery to awaken the divine that is innate within us.

In the candlelight moment when the Singing Bowl of Drepung Monastery was first heard and the minds of thousands were released to find their natural state of bliss, a gift was seeded. That gift, from the now distant and dim past, is at our very core and available to each of us if we choose to listen.

Richard Rudis, (Karma Sonam Dorje), has studied Eastern philosophy and Buddhism, for over twenty five years and is an American practitioner of Vajrayana. A long time pilgrim/guide of sacred sites and teachings he was granted refuge in the Buddha from His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa while in Tibet in 1996. He has been teaching Buddhist Dharma/Vibrational Sound Healing workshops, with the Himalayan sacred sound instruments, is for fifteen years, he is a published writer, lecturer and recording artist. As the owner of the ‘Illuminarium’ (http://www.buddhistartifacts.com) he represents museum quality artifacts and leads small groups of spiritual pilgrims onto the Tibetan Plateau yearly. Reciprocal Maintenance Meditation, the Ending of War, Creation of Immortality, Gurdjieff Part 2 of 2

Gurdjieff died in 1949, about the same year as Ramana Maharshi.

Gurdjieff essentially synthesized ancient esoteric teachings and made them approachable and applicable to the lives of rational Western individuals. His concepts and methods are still seminal in the spiritual work of the west.

A seeker will find in his teachings an immeasurable treasure, the essence of so many other teachings, both spiritual and psychological, on the inner life.

This Gurdjieffian extraordinary system of thought, which ranges from the most intimate, psychological insights to a grandiose cosmology linking the individual with the universe, is a synthesis of practices and teachings known as The Fourth Way.

Then there is the man himself. Gurdjieff was the archetypal Master, beaming with extraordinary psychic powers developed in secret schools and monasteries somewhere between the Caucasus and the Himalayas; brutal soul-shattering insights; marvelous humor which was both ribald in the extreme and breathtakingly penetrating.

Gurdjieff also had a capacity for love that was matched only by his ability to express rage. He was a master hypnotist, a master actor, a master healer.

Those who encountered him often had opposite ideas of who he was, usually as a result of his own intentional behavior.

Like many Masters, Gurdjieff sometimes gave the impression of being a charlatan or mad to arrogant egotistic individuals, while to others he was the most enlightened man they would ever encounter.

His radiant energy, the Buddhafield of the Master, always acted on people's negative energies to send people with a lot of it away, and attracted people with a lot of good, positive Soul energy.

In such a way, as with all Masters, Gurdjieff consciously separated the evil weeds from the good grain!

This powerful Master Gurdjieff, with eyes that pierced to the depths of the soul was also an old man whose pockets were full of candy for the children.

He worked by many methods, to bypass the mind he worked with dance, Gurdjieff said, "I am a simple teacher of dance". Devi Dhyani has given performances of "The Sacred Dances of Gurdjieff" in order to radiate her Buddhafield more strongly, to throw out the bad and energise the good.

And when he explained the theory of the evolution of substances like hydrogens, carbons and oxygens in Ouspensky's book, "The Fourth Way", Gurdjieff was just tricking him, taking a very long winded intellectual theory to say to intellectual Ouspensky and to anyone else reading it, to bypass the mind, "You need the radiation of a Master to quicken your evolution!"

His major concepts were Buffers or Energy Blockages, like the organ Kundabuffer, Mechanical people, Sub – Personalities and the Soul Personality or Essence which I have described in the first article on Gurdjieff

Yet in his third book of the trilogy, Beelebub's Tales to his Grandson, he talked about two more interlinked concepts.. Reciprocal Maintenance is the Taoist Macrocosmic Orbit Meditation and The Affirming and Denying Influences on man.

Here is a quote, "the Most High and Most Sacred Individuals to take the necessary measures to insure the formation on the Earth of what is called the sacred 'askokin,' so that this sacred cosmic substance, indispensable for the maintenance of the Universe, might issue continuously from your planet.

"His Conformity also explained that this cosmic substance, the sacred 'askokin,' exists throughout the Universe, generally blended with the sacred substances 'abrustdonis' and 'helkdonis,' and therefore, in order to have the degree of vivifyingness required for such maintenance, the sacred substance 'askokin' must first be freed from the other two substances.

"To tell the truth, my boy, I did not understand at once all that he told me, it all became clear to me only later when, during my studies of the fundamental cosmic laws, I learned that these sacred substances 'abrustdonis' and 'helkdonis' are precisely those substances which enter into the formation and perfecting of the higher being-bodies of the three-brained beings—that is, the 'kesdjan body' and the 'body of the soul'—and that the separation of the sacred 'askokin' from the two other substances proceeds when beings, on whatever planet they may be, transmute these sacred substances in themselves for the forming and perfecting of their higher bodies, by means of conscious labor and intentional suffering.

"And when I became interested in these favorites of yours and began to observe and study their strange psyche, I finally understood why and to what ends Great Nature herself and the Most High and Most Saintly Individuals are always patiently adapting themselves to all things In this connection, the following personal opinion was formed in me.

"If only these favorites of yours would seriously ponder all this and serve Nature honestly in this respect, their being-self-perfecting might then proceed automatically, even with- out the participation of their consciousness, and in any case, the poor Nature of this ill-fated planet would not have to strain so hard to adapt herself to remain within the common-cosmic harmony.

"But to the misfortune of everything existing in the Megalocosmos, there is no honesty in your favorites in fulfilling their duties, not even toward that Nature to whom, in truth, they owe their very existence.

"As regards the absence of honesty in your favorites in the fulfillment of their duty toward Nature, I have just remembered a very wise saying of our incomparable teacher Mullah Nasr Eddin, the hidden meaning of which is borne out in the present case.

" 'Plague and cholera are in any event nobler than human honesty, for people with a conscience can at least live at peace with them. '

"And so, my dear Hassein, when it became clear that there had entirely disappeared from the psyche of your favorites the instinctive need for conscious labor and intentional suffering in order to take in and transmute in themselves the sacred substances abrustdonis and helkdonis—thus releasing the sacred askokin for the maintenance of the Universe—Great Nature was constrained to adapt herself and to extract this sacred substance by other means, one of them being precisely that periodic terrifying process of reciprocal destruction.

"Here, for a correct valuation of your contemporary favorites, it will be opportune to remind you that after the organ kundabuffer had been removed from the three-brained beings of your planet, the first generations of their descendants very soon learned that a certain substance had to be transformed through them and that their assistance in this transformation was one of their chief being-duties.

"Do you remember, I already told you that the three-brained beings of the continent of Atlantis even considered this being-duty as sacred and called it 'amarloos,' which in their language meant 'help for the Universe. '

The Central Spiritual sun sends, shines energy, Affirming Influences, to earth in different quantities at different times dependent upon astrology.

Human beings and all nature have been created to transmute those different quantities of energy through a Reciprocal Maintenance meditation and send back Denying Influences to the central spiritual sun.

Reciprocal Maintenance Meditation also evolves humanity, creating the higher being bodies of the soul and the body Kesdjan, and allows a greater quantity and quality of energy to be transmuted.

If Reciprocal Maintenance does not occur then,

"It was also fully proved in the theory of Atarnakh that at certain periods depending on astrology, there must infallibly proceed on earth such a definite quantity of deaths as in their totality will yield vibrations of a definite degree of power."

The energy from these deaths, unless provided by meditation, are provided by natural causes like Tsunamis, the sacrifice of animals, or the killing of human beings through war, or as Gurdjieff calls it, periods of Reciprocal Destruction.

Gurdjieff was saying that the death or sacrifice of animals was unaesthetic. Part of Beelzebubs Tales to his Grandson was how he came down to the planet several times over thousands of years and in that time he prevented the previous practices of animal and human sacrifice, first created in Babylonian times.

Death by war or natural disasters or sacrifice is an abomination.

Without the completion of the process of Reciprocal Maintenance Meditation, lives would grow shorter and people would forget their previous lifetimes in their next rebirth. In a way, completion of the Reciprocal Maintenance Meditation leads to Immortality!

Thus the solution to the problem of war and also to evolution is the advanced meditation of Reciprocal Maintenance resulting in a process of being-duty - opening the heart, conscious labor and intentional suffering for the benefit of others.
